Newborns have difficulty defecating. The treatment consists of so-called pull-through surgery, which is performed at the UKBB using minimally invasive techniques (i.e. with tiny incisions in the anus). A possible complication of Hirschsprung's disease is Hirschsprung's-associated enterocolitis.
